Gallery Artists Group Show - Considering Spring
And Anne Drew Potter - Who Are Those Masked Men?
April 2 - May 2, 2009

Pacini Lubel Gallery will celebrate the beauty of the Northwest with an exhibition titled Considering Spring, a multi-dimensional, multi-medium exhibition featuring gallery artists. Considering Spring will run from April 2nd to May 2nd in the East Gallery. The participating artists create figurative, representational and abstracted forms that echo the images and feelings of our natural surroundings.

Artists in this exhibition will include Meg Holgate, Laura Ross Paul, Elena Korakianitou, Michael Dickter, Dennis Lee Mitchell, David Price, Bean Finneran, Michelle Knox, Natalie Oswald, Charles Thomas and Alicia Tormey. Budding trees, verdant vistas, misty lakes, beautiful sunsets, sun drenched birds and popping flowers will be brought together in this resplendent exhibition.

Ceramist, Anne Drew Potter will present an installation of five sculptures in the West Gallery exhibition space. Anne creates figurative sculpture that often explores political, social, and sexual identity aspects of our culture. The androgynous smaller than life characters are hooded and in the process of being interrogated. Is this a throw-back to Abu Ghraib - is there a more direct correlate to our everyday existence as broad reaching legislation like the Patriot Act is enacted as law. The surface treatment of the 5 sculptures is minimal - but the expressions and positions of the characters are demanding of our attention. The strength of the installation is in the emotive ability of each character.

Please join us on Thursday, April 2nd for the First Thursday Art Walk Opening from 6 - 8 PM.
