Meg Holgate
December 4 - December 27, 2008
Pacini Lubel Gallery is proud to exhibit the paintings of Northwest painter, Meg Holgate in the East Gallery from December 4th through December 27th.
In this, Meg Holgate's second solo show at Pacini Lubel, she translates the Northwest's beautiful surroundings. Water, topographical splendor, and multiple states of light comingle with her transcendent ethereal approach to painting. Northwest scenes are depicted in a manner that generates an emotional relationship between the viewer and the painting. Evening sunsets elicit a peaceful emotional state while a close-up of Water Lilly's evokes a communion with nature. Color is critical to the success of Meg Holgate's paintings as she carefully and minimally shades the paintings with hints of orange, fuchsia, blue's and green in a manner that highlight's the tenderness of the moment.
Meg writes that "my paintings are drawn from the incredible beauty of the Northwest". These contemplative works are the ethereal translations of my surroundings. I seek to capture the emotional essence of my subject matter rather than a physical interpretation. My landscapes are simple meditations on nature. With muted colors, diffused light and soft focus I wish to draw the viewer into my painting for his or her own journey. My work through its quiet strength suggests distant memories, timeless places and a glimpse of promise.
Please join us and Meg Holgate for the opening on Thursday, December 4th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
