Elena Korakianitou - Allegories & Enigmas

Pacini Lubel is proud to exhibit the paintings of Northwest artist, Elena Korakianitou in the East Gallery from September 4th through 27th.
Elena Korakianitou was born and raised in Greece but has been a resident of Seattle for the past thirty years. Her influence is inspired by these disparate cultures in addition to the spirit, knowledge and historical perspective of past cultures - she has studied art and art history in Athens, Greece, Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris, France and the University of Washington in Seattle.
Elena states that "she tries to find the unity and the spirit, the essence of all things - and, of course the beauty. I don't like painting what I see on the surface but try to paint what I feel when I look at something". Elena has studied mythology and the philosophy of spirituality for many years as part of her quest to represent the spirit of all things in her art. Elena's desire to depict the essence of what she sees in her art subjects has taken her a diversity of places, cultures and religious philosophies. She has attended and studied at Zen Monasteries and ancient Greek Temples, and Byzantine Monasteries and Churches. "I find spirituality not only in religion but in all aspects of life - I've gone beyond organized religion in order to understand the greater essence of being".
Elena Korakianitou lectures on the subject's of art and spirituality and travels with students to sacred places in Greece in order to share this knowledge with others. Her work is exhibited in numerous public and private collections and has been exhibited in galleries locally, nationally and internationally.
