Group Show - New Works from Gallery Artists
August 7 - August 30, 2008
Pacini Lubel Gallery will present a group exhibition of gallery artists from August 7th through August 30th. The exhibition will include both two and three dimensional artists including Adelaide Paul, Michael Lucero, Sara Zin, Russell Biles, Bean Finneran, Steve Hansen, Laura Ward, and Robin and John Gumaelius.
Adelaide Paul is best known for her ceramic work echoing her dedication for the ethical treatment of animals. The exhibition will present three dog sculptures - all encased in leather.
Michael Lucero presents new work from his "Persanimal Series". The ceramic sculptures are abstracted figurative pieces that utilize animal imagery and functional pottery elements to develop a male or female form.
Sara Zin, a recent graduate from the University of Washington, paints personal images. The paintings are beautifully rendered portraits with an abundance of emotional and spiritual content.
Russell Biles is a nationally recognized ceramist presenting for the first time with Pacini Lubel Gallery. This current group of works are exquisitely developed sculptures with decidedly political tones; as a tiger is partnered with a young freedom fighter, a shark is enveloping the Statue of Liberty and a snake is engulfing a military officer.
Ceramist Bean Finneran will present several sculptures that are kinetic in nature and create an illusion of being amidst sea filled with anemone.
Steve Hansen develops ceramic sculptures that incorporate Pop Art iconography onto technically sophisticated vessels.
Laura Ward creates three dimensional wall pieces by framing a silicone based gel that is reverse painted and referencing wall paper that may have been found in a past era.
Robin and John Gumaelius, a husband and wife team develop whimsical sculpture incorporating found objects with steel and ceramic.
Please join us for the opening on Thursday, August 7th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
