Group Show - color / texture / form
March 6 - March 29, 2008

During the month of March, Pacini Lubel will present a gallery wide
Group Show - color / texture / form. The exhibition will highlight the work of gallery artists working in both two and three dimension and using a variety of mediums. Clay, Glass, Paper, Oil on Canvas, Leather and Metal will be represented by the artists participating in this exhibition.

A diverse group of ceramic artists will be represented. Adelaide Paul binds her animal sculptures in leather presenting a cautionary tone to the practice of taxidermy. Joseph Chiarello hand builds animals and paints South Pacific inspired tattoos and iconography on their surfaces. Lisa Clague creates whimsical ceramic sculptures that harkens to a traveling circus. Gregory Roberts designs organic ceramic sculpture through a time laborious technique of carved "honeycombing".
Kathleen Holmes creates dress sculptures which envelope the notion of family, specifically the importance of maternal strength.
Dennis Mithchell's ceramic pieces are the embodiment of the northwest forests - tree branches climbing walls or resting on a tabletop. Ceramist, Don Fritz integrates pop elements and an anti-war conviction into his ceramic sculptures. Ruth Borgenicht creates wall mounted and three dimensional structure through an intricate layering of ceramic rings reminiscent of medieval armor. Keith Schneider endows his ceramic vessels with personalities; some mischievous, some winsome, all capturing a weathered and worn surface. Martin Fromm mixes photography with found object to create assemblages that evoke glimpse of a personal history. Karen Shapiro re-examines the mundane with her oversize sculptures of familiar household items.

Fiber artists Danielle Bodinet layers paper and organic elements into oblong wall sculpture. Incorporating her classic forms like boats and spirited figures, KeKe Cribbs creates sculptures and paintings utilizing reverse painted glass and mixed media. Fresh from his installation at the Bellevue Arts Museum, Lanny Bergner's hand coiled and frayed mesh screen constructions aim to bring the artificial and natural into forms that seems organic and grown. Els VandenEnde fires and cold works layers of glass into stacking 'stones' or cairns. Each colorful marker a symbol of what one leaves behind for another to find.

Andree Carter will exhibit two richly textured paintings that are the embodiment of the phrase "color, texture, form". Alicia Tormey creates richly layered encaustic landscapes. Mattie Iverson's abstracted landscape paintings and works on paper epitomizes the notion of northwest light and energy. Ann Duffy paints urban landscape that are a visual feast, at once hazy and radiant like a freeway on a blistering day. Her paintings capture the everyday that may typically go unnoticed.

Please join us for the opening on March 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
