Pacini Lubel will exhibit the paintings of Meg Holgate from April 7 through April 30, 2007 in the East gallery. Meg Holgate's ethereal painting's are inspired by the wonders of the Northwest - nature abounds. Scenes of rolling hills with a glimpse of a lake or perhaps a mist filled field with a hint of a sunset sky invite the viewer to inspect the canvas for deeper meaning.
A Seattle native, Meg Holgate grew up in New York and London where she writes "I was surrounded by a contemporary kaleidoscope of of artistic expressons of the 60' s and 70's. Now, years later, happily married and with my children embarking on their own lives, I have the opportunity to express my own passions in my work. For me painting is a form of communication - my voice, my tool to express the great beauty I see in in this world. When I paint it is important to me to find the soul of the subject I am painting. I see the energy of the landscape rather than the fine details of its physical nature. I seek the information that lies beneath the physicality and I choose to search for its simple essence. It is only when the soul of the work reveals itself that the piece is on its way to being finished".
