Pacini Lubel will exhibit the sculpture of ceramist, Tip Toland from March 1st through March 31st. Tip Toland has created a series of hyper-realistic sculpture that leave the viewer questioning the essence of the piece. The brilliance of Ms. Toland's sculpture lies in the enigmatic state her viewers remain. Even though there is absolute clarity in detail of the figurative piece, one is left wondering about the circumstances of the figure. Questions of good versus bad, independence versus dependence, rational versus irrational and real versus imagined all strike the viewer.
Tip Toland received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Colorado and a Masters of Fine Arts from Montana State University. She was the first place Winner of the Virginia Groot Foundation Grant and the recipient of a NEA Grant in 2004. Her sculpture is included in numerous collections, both public and private. This includes the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. and the Kohler Arts Center in Wisconsin.
Ms. Toland is a full-time studio artist and teaches workshops throughout the country.
