other 2004 exhibits
December 4, 2004 through January 29, 2005.
Laura Ross-Paul will exhibit paintings and monotypes in the East Gallery through January 29, 2005. She creates her work by pouring a resin/wax mix over the painted surfaces which causes random runs, blendings and other accidental alterations of the images. The paintings are representational with an overlay of linear abstract symbols.
"Ross Paul's overarching approach to her art is one of the constant receptivity
to the many sources of inspiration and influence that can affect the creative
pictorial process. When a shape or technical variation leads to a new pictorial
theme, it is accepted; where a subject implies a fresh approach to technique
or color, it is followed; if a color suggests an emotional response can be heightened -
even though a restructuring of the composition may ensue - such potential is
investigated."

Her work integrates light into her sculpture through repeating patterns on the works surface and through the carved elements that may represent an organic element, like a fish or bird or an inorganic element like a sphere or a vertical vessel. Color is integral as well with a varying palette of color that spans the spectrum.
Judith is represented in numerous public and private collections.
